Q: Burning Brush
A: The burning of brush is permitted in most area of North Carolina provide
a burning band is not in effect, a burn permit is required to burn
brush. The North Carolina Division of Forest Resources issues burn
permits online. Burn permits are also available at the Cashiers
fire station, Zollers Hardware and
other locations. Keep in mind that burning within 100 feet of an
occupied dwelling is regulated by county authority, not the NCDFR. Go to

restriction on what, where and when brush can be burned. The NCDFR
website lists these restrictions.

The Cashiers Glenville Vol. Fire Department has four stations. Multiple
stations reduce the departments response time and can lead to lower
insurance cost for residents, (insurance rate are determined in part by
the proximity of a property to a fire station).
