Fire District
District DescriptionThe department’s district is located in southern Jackson County North Carolina. The district is bound on the south by the South Carolina state line, on the west by the Macon County line, on the east by the Transylvania County Line and on the north by the Cullowhee fire district. The district is classified as a rural district and covers approximately 135 square miles. We serve the communities of Cashiers, Sapphire Valley, Glenville, Big Ridge, Yellow Mountain, Pine Creek, Norton and Heady Mountain. The District encompasses the Cashiers and Hamburg townships and portions of the Mountain, River, and Canada townships.
The Cashiers Glenville Fire District is covered by multiple zip code zones. Property inside the district may have addresses with one of the following cities, Highlands (28741), Cashiers (28717), Sapphire (28774), Glenville (28736), Cullowhee (28723) or in rare cases Tuckasegee (28783). The five and six mile district boundaries are parcel based. The boundaries include parcels located within the specified distance (five or six miles) of a station.
Addresses in the Jackson County are mileage based. Starting from the beginning of a road address increase by thousands of a mile, odd numbers are on the left and even numbers on the right. Example a building with an address of 1250 Main Street would be located on the right one and a quarter miles from the start of Main Street.
