Jackson County is one of the few counties in North Carolina that does not have a district fire tax. The department receives some money from Jackson County, but the majority of the department's funds come in the form of donations from individuals.

The department holds several events throughout the year to raise money, including  a boot drive and a firehouse breakfast. In addition a fundraising  letter is sent out to the districts property owners.
